These, in addition to patriarch Charles Dolan, take presctiption the board or employees. The ubiquity from the Dolans, who control a lot more than 70% from the company's combined shares, causes it to be unlikely Cablevision is going to be offered in the near future despite sporadic waves of takeover speculation, including fresh gossips sparked by Rutledge's sudden ankling late a week ago. The highly regarded as chief operating officer's departure sent Cablevision's stock collapsing 17% Friday. The 2 companies' NY-area cable systems are contiguous, which may make sure they are a great proper fit.Rutledge gave pointless for departing and Cablevision was clearly caught short with no alternative arranged. If he'd planned to consider a brand new job, possibly running Charter Communications, his departure could have been timed and handled in a different way. Success, however, leaves it less room to grow and fewer appealing to a possible buyer."Cablevision, we've lengthy contended, is really a victim of their own success. And far of this success owes to Tom Rutledge and John Bickham," Moffett stated. The organization also faces lots of competition in the key marketplaces from Verizon FiOS, also located in NY.Cablevision stated inside a statement it's began searching to have an executive with responsibility for oversight from the cable procedures. In the division, James is stated to love best and follow most carefully, Monosodium glutamate and it is teams, one Wall Streeter noted, the NY Knicks remain hooked inside a decades-lengthy slump unusual for any major metropolitan team with cash and among the world's most well-known arenas behind it. The Knicks were last National basketball association Champions in 1973.However, his position appears untouchable. "Charles Dolan, people of his family and related family organizations can with each other to manage stockholder choices and also to elect as much as 75% from the company's board," the proxy stated.People from the Dolan family have decided to cast their votes like a block. As well as in something known as the kids Trusts Registration Privileges Agreement, super-voting Class B stock in the trusts will instantly be transformed into Class A regular if offered to anybody outdoors the household or related parties. They do not always obtain way. The Dolan family attempted unsuccessfully to consider Cablevision private two times during the last decade, in 2005 and again in 2006.And from time to time the household fights itself as with the famous fight over VOOM, a pricey High definition tv satellite service dear to Charles Dolan that his boy James and also the board chosen to seal lower then sell. First Men in Black 3 Trailer: Whatever

If you thought that Will Smith’s trailer on the set of Men in Black 3 was ridiculous, wait until you see the actual trailer trailer for the film itself. The nonsensical first preview for the series’ third installment is officially released, prompting the tired sighs of millions still reeling from the garbage-strike pile-up known as New Year’s Eve. A perfectly fine way for Hollywood to further bruise your memory of a perfectly fine blockbuster and remind you beyond the shadow of a doubt that it’s Monday. Submit. Smith’s first film in more than three years features him reprising his role as Agent J, traveling back through Chrysler Building gargoyle suicide-jump time machine to meet the young version of his partner Agent K, which is basically Josh Brolin doing an out-of-practice Tommy Lee Jones Impression form the set of No Country for Old Men. Jones is here, too, squirming through dead-faced line readings as though the piles of money beneath him have met their match in a fierce outburst of hemorrhoids. And there’s Emma Thompson, and there’s… enh, whatever. Life’s too short. Good luck. VERDICT: Try harder, team.

Ice Cube Planning Another Friday

And Chris Tucker may be backIt's been almost 10 years because the last instalment, but Ice Cube and New Line are apparently keen to bring back the slacker Friday franchise. The very first Friday would be a stoner comedy launched in 1995. It's nominal plot involved Chris Tucker's want to get $200 to local drug dealer Large Earthworm (Faizon Love) and Cube's face-served by bully Deebo (Small Lister), nevertheless its easygoing pace permitted for lots of hanging out on verandas, speaking nonsense and smoking.5 years later, Next Friday would be a larger tale of Cube remaining together with his cousin Day-Day (Mike Epps) and becoming involved in certain shenanigans from the trio of haplessly inept Latino gangstas nearby (it was in the height of Cube's rather public spat with Cypress Hill, context fans). The Cube/Epps double-act ongoing into Friday After Next, which saw them as mall cops. There is additionally a short-resided animated series, although no movie series cast provided the voices. The very first film was directed by F Gary Grey, the 2nd by Steve Carr, and also the third by Marcus Raboy, however the presently untitled 4th could see Cube themself walking behind your camera, in addition to starring and writing as he's always done. The larger news however, would be that the new film could see the return of Tucker's Smokey, who has not been seen because the original. Deebo's inside it too.Deadline and TMZ both explain that Tucker sitting the other Friday sequels for religious and anti-drugs reasons (younger crowd states he wouldn't now do Jackie Brown), however the "serious talks" which are apparently going ahead claim that Tucker's bookings may be addressed and covered within the next script. There is surely comedy potential inside a Smokey who no more smokes: it's Friday, he ain't got no job, and that he ain't got shit to complete... but he can't get high either...We'll roll with more news whenever we get it.

Reed Hastings Loses $300 Million in Netflix Collapse

This article originally appeared in the Nov. 4 issue of The Hollywood Reporter.our editor recommendsNetflix's Reed Hastings Hasn't Considered Stepping Down, 'Not for A Second'Netflix Stock Falls to Early 2010 LevelsNetflix Stock Tanks; U.S. Subscriber Base Loses 800,000Netflix Could Report Loss of 780,000 Subscribers in Third QuarterWinners and Losers of Netflix's Aborted Qwikster PlanNetflix Yanks Plan to Separate DVD-By-Mail From Streaming Service In 15 weeks, shares of Netflix have sunk 74 percent, wiping out nearly $12 billion in market value. No one feels that more personally than co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings, whose stake in the company shrunk from almost $400 million to $87 million in that time frame. "I actually don't remember a high-flying stock collapsing this quickly," analyst Henry Blodgett told The Daily Ticker. That's a remarkable assessment, considering Blodgett's track record as a rainmaker of the Internet bubble era. Given the carnage created by missteps that include the creation and destruction of Qwikster and 800,000 subscriber defections after a 60 percent fee hike, murmurs that Hastings should be removed from his leadership role are inevitable. PHOTOS: Netflix's 10 Most Rented Movies of All Time "Netflix got what it deserved," says John Tschohl, author of Achieving Excellence Through Customer Service and founder of the Service Quality Institute. "The CEO needs to go -- more bad days ahead," he warns. But until attorneys begin filing lawsuits on behalf of shareholders, Tschohl is in the minority. Perhaps that's because, when all is said and done, it was under Hastings that Netflix went from penny-stock status to a multibillion-dollar corporation, making millionaires of several executives and early shareholders in the process. Even after the recent swoon, the stock is up 2,300 percent in nine years. Not too shabby, considering the S&P 500 is up a mere 38 percent in the same time frame. And it should be noted that the last time Netflix raised prices and lost subscribers was in 2007. The stock quickly dropped 30 percent to $17. Not a bad buying opportunity, in retrospect. PHOTOS: Hollywood's Biggest Blunders Still, during the week of Oct. 24, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and J.P. Morgan all yanked their "buy" recommendations on the stock while Janney Capital Markets slapped a "sell" on it. Mostly, though, Wall Street has adopted a wait-and-see attitude. "Netflix is a riddle wrapped up in an enigma," says Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who gives the stock a "neutral" rating. "The Netflix management team has evolved from one of the most consistent and dependable of any company we have ever covered into one of the most inconsistent and erratic in the course of the last 15 weeks." Even Blodgett is optimistic that Hastings will turn things around, as he has done many times, including when Walmart tried to encroach on Netflix's business: "If in two years Netflix has built a monster streaming business, everyone will say, 'Oh, that Reed Hastings, he's like [Amazon's] Jeff Bezos, he focuses on the long term and so forth, and he's such a genius." Megan Fox on Shia LaBeouf, Her Public Image and Beginning Finished 'Friends With Kids'

"I like Shia to dying," mentioned Megan Fox to Moviefone in Toronto in the last weekend. "I like him for any excuse.Inch People don't appear like the words of anyone who has been "hit hard," as Fox mentioned, with the principal players associated with 'Transformers: Dark in the Moon' -- the summer season blockbuster that very infamously didn't feature the first sort franchise co-star. While Shia LaBeouf and Michael Bay stacked on through the press models for 'Transformers,' Fox ongoing to stop barking. That will change. With techniques, Megan Fox is trying to start again, and her role inside the new indie ensemble comedy 'Friends With Kids' -- which opened up within the Toronto Worldwide Film Festival -- is certainly a fascinating choice. Fox feels safe together with her image just like a pin-up girl -- she describes her own public image as "a robot" -- which is media savvy enough to comprehend that that image is not a hindrance. Moviefone spoke with a candid and engaging Fox in Toronto about 'Friends With Kids' (she plays Mary Jane, Adam Scott's youthful girlfriend inside the new comedy), her public image, the beating she's attracted within the press, and why she didn't defend herself. And, yes, she revealed if she's seen 'Transformers: Dark in the Moon.' Moviefone: I literally just left of 'Friends With Kids.' I have not had whenever to produce questions which i can not even read my notes. Megan Fox: They're really sloppy. You've very sloppy handwriting. That's suggestive of something. Like, what's this word? "Pun"? A sum that even mean? Why would I write lower "pun"? I'm unsure. Anyway ... we'll observe it is going. That's as being a mental emphasis of if you publish just random words -- free write. Then you definitely certainly make out the print and you're simply like, "Wow, wrong with me at night? In . I loved your movie. Thanks. You know what happens I loved relating to this? Your character is not a jerk. That's true. She's not just a jerk. I'm speaking about, she's not super-sweet, either, but she's not just a jerk or possibly an assh*le. That wouldn't match Adam's character. They just wouldn't appear sensible. Was that required for you? I'm speaking about, I never once thought, Why would he be along with her? She's mean. Yes, that was the idea. We didn't want Mary Jane being mean. I have not really carried out a typical character -- well, besides Jennifer in 'Jennifer's Body,' who hates males. But, yeah, clearly Adam is actually fun to check out and he's so enjoyable, you do not need to find out Adam with somebody that's mean to him for just about any second. You'd hate that each because he's so wonderful. It is therefore just more they was there at two different points inside their existence. Searching in the career, I'm this is often a excellent role to suit your needs. Let me preface that by proclaiming that I have not a clue things i am talking about. People have mentioned that before. I buy what you're saying -- In my opinion I buy what you're saying. This role seems to ... Makes me appear human? I wouldn't put it by doing this. But following a kerfuffles of history, you are playing an regular thing about this incorporated within an ensemble. Does which will make sense? Yes. Could be that the plan? It's my job to wish to get familiar with ensembles. Besides it feeling safer, I believe that it is a far more enjoyable atmosphere to use in. To experience a handful of people cooperating on something, it takes pressure from every person. Aside from Jen, clearly who written and directed which is starring within it. She required to carry the duty on her behalf account shoulders. However think these films have switched to function as most enjoyable to use on ... personally. It's interesting that you just mentioned "feel more human." Explain that. This is actually the reviews I needed from my number of buddies. That's how they phrase it. I merely think the idea is always that because a lot of the method that people have experienced me, it's the glorified pin-up girl with motorcycle boots who's also fighting to be able to save the earth. It is not always somebody who you connect to since they're an illusion people always who exist such as this -- the glossy lips in the heart of the desert. In 'Jennifer's Body' I used to be this crazy -- it's this phenomenal Diablo Cody script, but it's so kooky and therefore strange which i had been eating people. It's just an very strange movie. You don't always start to see the human side of whoever is playing that each. Which I think of the media, generally, I merely don't really get referred to as anyone who has feelings or who's encouraging. Or I type of am referred to as this -- I'm -- as being a self-absorbed ice full. Maybe. But individuals who see me in the role that allows me being more human -- I am unsure another word to take advantage of to describe it -- is why people say it's a good go to did. It's also interesting that you just mentioned that you just think people don't believe you've feelings. But that whole image, is always that a help or possibly a hindrance to suit your needs? It's both, sometimes. I'm speaking about, sometimes I appear like it's a help since pretend that you just have this shield surrounding you whatsoever occasions. Typically I'm really strong with simply how much bullsh*t I'd stacked upon me for this type of very long time. But, you understand, I be worried about people. I be worried about my existence which i really like people. I'm not this robot. I'm people think I'm much like a robot -- being an android. That We am about me and my ideas are only concerned with me. That If only to become famous. I realize one factor I've heard a good deal is, "Does she say stuff that she states because sherrrd like attention? It's attention-seeking." However always felt like, when were the problem, wouldn't I display some type of attention-seeking behavior, which i've never done. I've always tried to reside an extremely normal, private, quiet existence. Therefore I imagine I've always really allowed room for your media to type of chop my words and hang their unique narrative about it making this salacious appear bite that goes everywhere. And because of that we appear like people simply have no idea things i am like or who I am. I appear like it's a mystery. That's OK. Is always that a genuine bad factor? It can be an optimistic factor. But clearly you will discover occasions if you have trouble with it because being misunderstood ninety percent of occasions is difficult because you have to clarify. However, you deal with it. While using recent Shia Labeouf interview as well as the 'Transformers' situation, why didn't you clarify or defend yourself? I didn't desire to discuss it while they're concerning the press tour because I didn't have considered trying to throw grime their way. I didn't want that movie to suffer. Especially because I like Shia. I desired that movie to accomplish well for him. I didn't want this huge media war over a thing that really am silly plus it would are simply my ego needing to get familiar with a war, in those days. Clearly, you will notice an occasion when If only to inform my side in the story. I merely don't feel it absolutely was appropriate once they were marketing the film. Are you currently presently stating that might be a no-win situation? Right. Like, "She's trying to consider in the movie." So that it was better to enable them to say whatever they would say. It's fine. With anything else that happened while using 'Transformers 3' situation together with you ... In what you read inside the press. Well, yes. Which I recieve the reasons you wouldn't be happy, but concurrently I'd kind of have to know how a story, the film itself, finishes. Perhaps you have see 'Transformers: Dark in the Moon'? I have not seen it yet, however could find it. I'm speaking about, once they was not striking me so desperately concerning the press tour, I'd have attended the theater. However felt like this is a tragedy: Me sitting getting a packed theater of people watching the film. Therefore I didn't go. I'm speaking about, I have nothing against watching it. Which I really like Shia to dying I like him for any excuse. Which I really like that crew. I'm really near the hair, makeup and wardrobe that made that movie. If only to see it on the account. Yes, it looked amazing inside the trailer. Within the three trailers, that was a clip that we was like, "Wow, sh*t, this is often a huge movie." So It will be considered a fascinating, fun factor to check out, I merely haven't become around in it yet. I'm imagining your site mind lines, "Megan Fox Watches 'Transformers'!" I possibly could not take action. Then which will become not just me trying to start to see the movie, that might have been like, "She's trying to consider attention within the movie when you're within the theater when it's released." It's a lose-lose. So I'll just watch it on Netflix home. You elevated a positive thing earlier with the fact that, aside from your interviews, you've continued to be in the spotlight. Why you think it's sensationalized? How come they sensationalize my comments? No, how come they sensationalize your existence? [Sighs] This can be a question I sit which i ponder frequently. And journalists sit with me at night and i'm always similar to this with whomever I consult with. That's type of most likely probably the most ... like the feeling of disloyality -- you've just like a celebrity or possibly an actress or artist -- In my opinion arises from winding up in journalists and feeling like, Hey, I'd an excellent conversation together with you, then you definitely certainly see the article which is like, Wow! Well, that is not the positioning that we thought you'd take. You need to sell this magazine, I recognize, but, sh*t, I merely didn't comprehend it would use that direction. So you have to become a little jaded with press because sense. You have to just guard yourself, because you never know what people will probably do. Like I mentioned, I formerly had a wonderful time in interviews -- I'd be playful, I'd be sarcastic. There's however a lot of room for an individual to think about a few things i was saying and build up, push the button, and throw it on 'Extra.' It's insane. You have to be really strong. You have to just shut your self on the critique eventually. So people keep trying to conquer me lower. I believed relating to this yesterday, that we appear like people have attempted so desperately to destroy me ... which i won't break. To ensure that they simply keep trying. Same goes with 'Friends With Kids' a calculated move? So people stop thinking about you in using this method? I certainly think it can help with doing other comedies. I'm speaking about, from coping with Jen [Westfeldt] and Jon [Hamm] and everyone involved, Judd [Apatow] referred to as these to request, "Hey, the thing that was she like on set? How could it happen to be? How was the understanding?Inch Since they stood a good understanding about me, that triggered Judd to require to put me within the movie. It is therefore opened up up entrance doors by doing this. I like concentrating on comedy film sets. They have been the lovliest encounters and they're nice, kind, fun people. It is therefore a genre I enjoy maintain. And you also finished filming 'The Dictator.' It's done. And it'll be funny. I'm speaking about, I'm not to imply my stuff, nevertheless the movie. And Sacha is great within it. Same goes with this your future -- comedies? [Laughs] We'll see. You'll be able to contact Mike Ryan on Twitter. Follow Moviefone on Twitter. Photo: Getty Images

Shane Brennan sets CBS dramas, taps prod'n prexy

BrennanAnderson Shane Brennan is firing up his development for the 2012-13 season with two drama projects set up at CBS, one of which is a private eye vehicle based on the "King and Maxwell" novel series by David Baldacci.Brennan, the exec producer of CBS' sturdy "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "NCIS" franchises, has also recruited former CBS TV Studios current programming exec Grant Anderson to serve as prexy of his Shane Brennan Prods., which inked a megabucks overall deal with CBS TV Studios in April (Daily Variety, April 21).The "King and Maxwell" project has been developed with Baldacci and his producing partner,Karen Spiegel. Brennan will pen the pilot that revolves around two former Secret Service agents-turned-private investigators. Brennan said he's a fan of Baldacci's many books and believes that the male and femme sleuths of "King and Maxwell" are "absolutely television characters -- they're the sort of characters I would develop myself."The concept of the series is very contemporary as it involves "insiders who get involved in cases where discretion is needed," he said. "It's very much a series of our time when we have so much frustration and suspicion of government and intelligence agencies."The other project Brennan is shepherding is a medical procedural from scribe Jordan Hawley ("Smallville"), who will write the pilot script. Concept for "Cure" revolves around a team of doctors who travel the country taking on unusual medical cases in the hope of finding a cure for a reclusive billionaire's terminally ill child.Brennan said he sparked immediately to Hawley's pitch."It just screams out to be made as a TV show," he said. "I've never envisioned a TV series so clearly as when Jordan walked in and pitched us his idea."Brennan made the decision in the spring to focus on development for the 2012-13 season. For the coming season, he has turned over the showrunner reins on "NCIS" to exec producer Gary Glasberg. He remains at the helm of "NCIS: LA."Anderson moved over to Brennan's shop about six weeks ago to help hone the development projects. He's spent the past six years at CBS TV Studios, most recently serving as veep of current programming. He's worked closely with Brennan on both "NCIS" shows as well as the "CSI" skeins and "Criminal Minds." Before working as an exec, he was a producer on NBC's "Third Watch." "Grant is particularly good with giving incisive notes because of his production experience," Brennan said. "It's rare to find someone with that kind of detailed understanding of a production's needs."Brennan and Baldacci are repped by Paradigm. Brennan's also repped by attorney Kevin Kelly of Gendler and Kelly. Contact Cynthia Littleton at cynthia.littleton@variety.com
