'Wolverine' sailing will get twelve months in federal prison
'X-Males Roots: Wolverine'A NY guy continues to be sentenced to 1 year in federal prison for unlawfully uploading an incomplete version of twentieth century Fox's "X-Males Roots: Wolverine," among the toughest punitive measures ever passed down for internet piracy.Bronx resident Gilberto Sanchez was in prison for uploading a virtually final "workprint" copy from the film last year several month before its theatrical release. "We feel this is actually the longest sentence ever enforced for any defendant billed with uploading just one copyrighted film to the web,Inch assistant U . s . States Attorney Lisa E. Feldman, who works together with the FBI's computer and intellectual property crimes section, told Variety.Sanchez made the film readily available for download to Megaupload.com for around each day before Fox could obtain the pic removed.Additionally to some one-year prison term, Judge Margaret M. Morrow also enforced twelve months of supervised release and various computer limitations on Sanchez.Sanchez's upload illicited common shock and horror around Hollywood and was viewed as the industry's most harmful incident of piracy up to that time. At that time, Fox believed that 15 million people downloaded the film. If accurate, that will theoretically put ticket purchase deficits within the hundreds of huge amount of money.
